BLACKS secured a comprehensive victory against Storm Force this evening at Tampines Sports Hall by winning 18-0. The match did not start as BLACKS would like, BLACKS seems to be having difficulties getting into the game and BLACKS was lucky not to concede any early goals. The wake up call came after a 2 min penalty was issued against the BLACKS team who then got going to put 6 past Storm Force in the 1st period.
When the 2nd period started, the BLACKS team charged in front with all cylinders firing. The floodgates opened and they up the goal tally to 11- 0. With the faithful supporters cheering them on, BLACKS could not just sit back with the comfortable lead and went on to finish the game in the last period with a 7 goal spree. The game ended 18-0 to BLACKS.
Coach Lionel praised the team's effort and felt that both goalies Chan Jiaming (#34) and Eric Ang (#1) were to be Men of the Match. The following are the scorers for the match:
Adrian #23 5 goals with 1 assist by Kenneth #11
Alvin#27 4 goals with 1 assist by Chris #14, Mingcong #73 and Azlan #55 each

BLACKS strikes back from previous match!!!
BLACKS triumph 8-5 over Pasirian Floorball today at Tampines Sports Hall. It was the 2nd victory for BLACKS and a comeback from the undeserved defeat in the previous match. This victory set BLACKS on course for the title challenge. The match against Pasirian got really exciting only in the 3rd period when Pasirian attempt to stage a late comeback to put 5 past our goalie (Chan Jiaming). However, their attempt failed with the determination from players like Jordan Tan who is named the Man of the Match. We had a chat with him after the match to find out his feelings regarding this important victory.
Jordan Tan Cheng Hua born on the 7th August 1980 who is "single" uses a pink exel blade. He admires sportsman like ex Man United Captain Eric Cantona and adopts the same fighting spirit. Jordan who just graduated from SIM's RMIT course is also the team's "cheerleader". His enthusiasm in cheering the team on is a sight to behold.
So Jordan, how was the match?
J: Aggressive but fun... I thrive on such competition as it keeps me high on adrenaline. It was definitely entertaining especially in the 3rd period. The team had improved in terms of teamwork and we were able to show in the match today. However, the concentration in the 3rd period could be better as we gave away too many goals. In the end, I feel that the score did not reflect how the match went as we dominated more.
So how you feel being named the Man of the Match today?
J: Feel honoured for sure. I am still a relatively new player and being named MOM was something that could spur me on to greater things. It was great! I got to share the credits with the team too as without them there wouldn't be any goals today.
What area personally do you hope to improve in the coming game?
J: I hope to get my name on the score sheet too! My strike partner Chris scored and I wonder when it would be my turn. But no worries, as I know the goal will come. Other than that, I also want to do better in my dribbling and control. If I can grasp these 2 areas well, I will fare even better.
How about the team? What do you hope for the team in the next match?
J: We must definitely win the next match. The aim is not only to score as many as possible but also keeping a clean sheet. Today we nearly got it (clean sheet for the 1st 2 period). We must get it in the next match and also score at least 10 goals! No offence to the opponents.
We heard you are a feisty player. What is your playing style or attitude towards the game?
J: Never ever give up on the ball! I will fight till the end at all costs. Never say die!!!

Ladies Coach cum Entrepreneur
Noticed the sponsor BLAST Floorball and ACCARAT Sports on Men's Team jersey? Entrepreneur and ladies coach Gary Huang age 22 (DOB 24 Oct 1984) is the owner of ACCARAT Sports which is the main sponsor of BLACKS FC and most importantly the BLACKS Ladies team coach. The entrepreneur cum coach cum student (Sports Mgmt in ITE College East) also represents MS Innebandy in the Div 1 league. This multi talent lad who uses BLAST righty stick adopts the fighting spirit of footballer Alan Shearer and is readily single and available (gals- waste no time! Grab while stocks last!) We had a little chat with him to find out more on how our ladies team is doing so far.How was the recent Div 1 league you played in? Any experience to share?
G: The pace is getting faster and faster. Players' standards have improved a lot. Teams have more depth now as compared to the past. The development for Singapore floorball is definitely on the rise.
Gained any experiences from the league that you can share with the ladies?G: I would prefer to focus on the team working and team bonding as winning is not everything. With the elements of team spirit in place, victories will come. I feel that if you want the team to win, we must share the ups and downs together so that if we lose then the team will be strong enough to accept defeat together and get back up on their feet quickly. You can't lose forever!
Which area that you feel that the ladies team should focus improvement on?
G: The ladies must work a lot harder on the basics. I am still unsatisfied with the basic skills. If we do not have the basics then the fancy skills will not come. With a strong foundation then you can be a good player. So we need effort effort effort!
So what is the strength of the ladies team then?G: Their team bonding is good. What I like is that BLACKS is like a big family. I hate bickering and I hope there won't be any. It destroys the team. So far the ladies can work together and the spirit is good and this is a vital strength that I hope to build onto to turn the ladies team into a force to be reckoned with.
Which player most impressed you so far?
G: So far everyone is growing up together. There are a few good ones but I would say no one in particular yet. Hopefully, I can name you outright some players the next time you ask me this question.

Who is your favourite Div 1 female player?
G: Favourite, no one in particular but I'm quite impressed with BAZE the MS Youth Team GK. She is really committed and determined to be a top player. Furthermore, she has leadership and cares for her team-mates.
ACCARAT Sports is the main sponsor of BLACKS. So how did they secure the sponsorship from you? You must have like something about BLACKS ain't it?
G: I like the fact that they come in together as one. As mentioned, just like a family. The atmosphere is good and BLACKS always welcome new players. Just like SKOOLS floorball where there is passion for the sport.
Any grouses about the ladies?
G: They tend to drag their feet and take a little longer than usual to get things done. They are fit but tend to be a bit lazier at times. This must stop if we are to improve and be Princesses who win matches.
If granted a wish. What would you wish for the Singapore Floorball scene?G: I hope floorball will get more recognition in Singapore. It's suitable for our local climate as we can play anytime in the day as it's an indoor sport. More people can adopt the sport and if they don't wanna to compete they can use it as a leisure sport to stay healthy, chill out with friends and also to make new friends.
How about sharing with us a tip/skill to end off our session today?
G: To me, wrist shot is very useful especially when you are close to the goal. It provides you with accuracy and speed. Keep the ball to the blade and give it a good connection (hit) to ensure marksmanship!
Stay tune for the next interview with one of our BLACKS Ladies.

Man of the Match for BLACKS first victory!!!
Hat trick hero Ang Ming Cong (No.73) bags 3 goals in BLACKS season opening match against the youthful and speedy Motorola juniors to win 5-4!!! The game started with BLACKS trailing the match most of the time but BLACKS showed resolution and won the 3rd period with a spin move and goal by Kenneth Koh (No.11) to seal the victory. For those who missed this pulsating match, you wouldn't wanna miss the games to come.We catch up with our hat trick hero No.73 Ang Ming Cong who is occupying the forward position for a quick interview after the match. The 24 yr old (Bday 9 Oct 1981) graduate from NTU who uses a righty Salming stick and adores Liverpool's Steven Gerrad and is "SINGLE" shares with us his feelings after the match:
How was the match? Hell a lot of goals ain't it?MC: Yah! It was an exciting match full of action! We are proud to come back from the "dead" to steal the victory.
First match first hat trick. What's your reaction?
MC: I would like to attribute the hat trick to the entire team. The goals came from the assist and overall team effort, without them I would not have scored too. Basically, I am overjoyed for the hat trick but I will continue to work hard and get more goals. Finally, I would like to share the glory with our unsung hero goalkeeper Jia Ming for his safe custody of our goal.
Which area you hope to improve on personally for the following match?
MC: I hope to return the flavour by creating some chances for my team-mates to score!
How about the team? Any areas you hope the team can improve on in the next match?
MC: If the team can keep a clean sheet that would be great. I also hope that we can execute our play ups to precision and score a lot more goals than conceding in the games to come.
