NOT MEANT TO BE YET....

Yesterday was the conclusion to a very exciting season for BLACKS FC. They went into the weekend knowing what they had to do and did it. Winning against TEK was all BLACKS FC could do to hope for a 2nd place finish in the league. They did beat TEK 10-4 but it was not meant to be.

In the evening, the last Div 2 match where Singapore Schools played NUS Saints was the match that will decide the fate of BLACKS FC. If Singapore Schools win then BLACKS will be 2nd in the league but the extremely exciting match resulted in a 4-3 victory to NUS. This result was devastating to BLACKS and many could not believe how did the eventual Champions lose the match. Credit to be given to NUS Saints for their hunger though...

3rd it shall be for BLACKS. Looking back at this season, BLACKS have done well. The future remains bright. The immediate tasks to build for the next season would be to retain the current squad where the bonding have been superb. Following that, BLACKS will be looking to get some new players and also to start looking for a regular training ground.

Closing words from BLACKS FC Captain 2007 Alvin Choong:

"On the whole, the team is getting stronger, hang on together for we are in the same boat. The time for BLACKS is nearing. Be patient and it will come. Never say die and if its meant to be, its up to we. Cheers to the season! We shall be back!"

SUNDAY'S WIN PLACE BLACKS ON ROUTE TO GRAND FINALE

BLACKS beat Road Warriors 5-2 on Sunday to set themselves up for the most important match in the history of this club. BLACKS' performance and attendance against the Rd Warriors was terrible! Only a handful of players turned up and the play was scrappy. If BLACKS want to progress, they will have to up their game against TEK to promote to Division 1 in 2008.

This Saturday (29 Sept 2007) at 12pm, Republic Poly will see BLACKS pit their might against TEK. BLACKS must win at all cost and hope for NUS Saints to lose against Singapore Schools to ensure a promotion to Div 1 next year. Will BLACKS make it?

You can play a part in our promotion quest by turning up to cheer us on... We need your support!

There will be a final training for Div 2 guys on Wednesday. Pls turn up to prepare for the most important match ever... Keep a lookout for details...

BLACKS IMPROVES!!!

Both the guys and the gals won their match this Saturday. Both wins were good indications that there were improvements to our floorball. The guys beat FC Squirrels 21-1 while the gals beat TP Gazelles 7-1. Arland was outstanding with 7 goals while Sally and Aizah shone for the gals.

The guys need to continue their romp the next match to ensure a superior goal difference while our gals' win put them in a safe haven for next year's competition. Well done...

LOUSY WEEKEND...

This weekend was a terrible one for BLACKS. All 3 teams lost when it mattered most. Div 3 BLACKS lost in the penalty shootout after they creditably led the RP Spartans into period 3 only to be held to a draw in the quarter finals stage of Div 3, our ladies lost to the NUS Calistans and BLACKS FC lost 6-2 to Singapore Schools.

All 3 teams lost with their pride still intact as they had fought till the end although the results were not in their favour. There was spirit, grit and hunger in our teams but the lack of flair and ball skills were costly. The main reason for BLACKS defeat in all 3 matches is probably they were simply outwitted by their opponents. There just wasn't enough experience as a team on our BLACKS sides and that caused our defeat.

However, we can definitely look back on this weekend's matches and improve on our play in the future. Although the curtains are drawn on one of our team's season, nevertheless as a club we will stand by each other and cheer on the Div 2 teams to wins and promotion for the Guys team. Lets continue to fight on!
