Thank You

Hi Everyone. With the AGM having just passed, we have a brand new committee at the helm of SIM Floorball Club. I thought it would be only appropriate that as the outgoing President, i would share my thoughts on the year that passed.

Firstly, i would like to congratulate the new committee for organising the AGM. My apologies for not being able to attend the AGM due to revision class in school. I heard it was a great success and full credit goes to the new committee. You have definitely showed us that you are indeed the right people to lead the club at this moment.

When the Exco took over in 2008, we had a huge task on our hands. Partly due to the excellent job of previous committees and the high standards that they have set. The club at that time though young in age was growing from strength to strength.

2008 has been a great year. The club has seen a major increase in members. Several events and gatherings were organised, most notably the Freshman Orientation and Post-IVP celebration. One Major event that the club has added to its calendar this year is the SIM Floorball Madness 3 on 3 floorball carnival. The event not only helped to raise the profile of the club but also helped to raise some precious funds for the club and helped bring the club members closer.

This year's IVP competition has been memorable. The girl's team continued to do the school proud by retaining the IVP crown for the 2nd year running without losing a single match. The guy's team has also improved tremendously having assembled a team capable of competing with the creme of the tertiary level.

All these would not have been possible if not for the support shown to the club. The committee has been a pillar of strength for me. Kannan & Charles: you guys have been great. i definitely could not have done it without both of you. Both of you have helped to administer the club issues and finances with great success. Furthermore, both of you helped the club to build an excellent relationship with both student care as well as with the floorball community. I also never had to worry about how the girl's team was doing. This is due to the excellent job done by both Teresa and Jiying. Your passion, commitment and jovial ways were certainly wonderful and refreshing. I am extremely grateful to my committee members. I am also grateful to the club members for the support they have shown to the committee and to the club as a whole.

The new committee has a great mix of both experienced plus new heads. They definitely have the passion and drive to bring the club to the next level. I hope and believe that all club members will give them your utmost support.

Always remember the sky's the limit. There is nothing you can't achieve.

I hope i did not bore you guys with the long write-up. With that, on behalf of the 4th Exco and the rest of the club, i wish the 5th Exco all the best.

President, 4th Exco

For those who couldn't join us for AGM, please do not feel sad or bad. We understand that you have your reasons. There will be more gatherings or events in future!!! By who? Well, the NEW EXCO of cos...

Tour De KL

Yet another normal TGIF night where normal people will let their hair down for the well-deserved weekend. However, that was not the case for the Blast Super Blacks (BSB). It was a night where they gathered at Golden Mile to be ready to board the coach to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The anxiety and excitment from every player were clearly seen on their faces as they talked about the trip and what is going to happen when they are there. Amazingly, this is the first time the team actually has a bonding trip to know more about one another and play together as a team. Without further a do, let me report about it in the following segments...

Team
This marks the new era for Blast Super Blacks as it is the first time they are traveling overseas to play floorball. With the inauguration of their main sponsor BLAST, the team will be playing with the players from Team Blast under our new coach Gary Huang. Up till today, the team has been facing against strong opponents for friendly matches. For example, SIM IVP Team, TEK, Moosemen, NTU, SMU. This will prepare the team for the Singapore Floorball Division 2 League which will be held in August 2009.

Friendly Matches

Day 1 was not a good start for Blast Super Blacks as every player had only 1-2 hours of sleep during the journey. The stoning and pale look on everyone's face was clearly not something the players want to have on the first match with Malaysian National Team. Nevertheless, the team fought on and get used to the court on that day. Even though they lost, they didn't blame each other for the loss and they understand the situation and were willing to go through as a team. The disappointment on everyone's face was clear as they didn't go there to lose the match unprepared. However, with the encouragement from the coach, manager, captain and team-mates, everyone was looking forward to the 2nd match with the Malaysian National Team. Well, after food and enough sleep and rest of course... =]

Day2 was definitely a good start for the team. Everyone had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel and had enough sleep and rest. They knew there's only one thing left in their mind. That's to play their best and try to win the Malaysian National Team at the 2nd match. Upon reaching the Sports Plaza, the players got ready and team morale was high and energetic. It was clear that in their eyes, they only want to bring back the glory they missed on Day1. When the game was played, it was clear that the team was more prepared and they played so much better. Even the opponents were taken aback by the different intensity and level of play during the 2 days. The win for the day was not clear as both teams equalised the score every time the opponent scored a goal. However, fate was sealed when Blast Super Blacks finally scored the crucial winning goal 5mins before the whistle blew. Both teams took photos together and talked to one another after the game. It truly marked a page in the history of floorball for both teams. Indeed, the glory was brought back with the team's effort and desire to win.

Food, Entertainment & Shopping

BSB has been eating their hearts out in KL. They combed the area around the hotel they stayed in, "Ridiculous" International Hotel (according the captain of the team... haha...). Fast food was a MUST especially when it comes to A&W. As they jalan jalan, they would stop by any nice eateries or get any snacks to eat along the way!

The team went shopping from Sungei Wang to Berjaya Times Square to KLCC and Pertaling Street! Each place gave us different experiences and JOY! For example, KLCC has a PREMIERE toilet which cost RM 2.00 everytime you enter. We went around Sungei Wang in the search of the "Mysterious" Basement2 "Shop"which we couldn't find it until we saw it outside the building while walking to the coach. How about the cheap prank we played on ** *** at Berjaya Times Square? Also, the bargaining and shopping at Pertaling Street! Someone even bought a souvenior item back from KFC!!! hahaha... too bad it didnt work... =X

There was a team bonding dinner on Day1 at "The Ship" where the team get to taste the best steak restaurant and watch the soccer match between Man U and Liverpool. The manager of the restaurant was very nice and thoughtful when he saw one of the players wearing Man U T-shirt (I shall not point out the name of the player...). He told him that he would personally get a separate table for him when Man U lose the match (What to do... the manager's a Liverpool fan! hahaha...). After that, there was a "live" band performing at there. The guys enjoyed the music before the performance from the "Sexy Divas". Who are they and what they performed? Well, it shall stay as a team secret... =]

Overall

I must say that it was really an amazing trip for the players and most importantly the team itself. The players really brought back alot of learning experiences and lessons from Malaysia. The team really bonded in one way or another through the games and silly things everyone do together. Sometimes it is interesting to see another side of the players which you didn't see if you had not been on the trip. Even though the team is still not at its peak or tip top condition, I believe they will be able to work out the differences and play better. It will be amazing to see how the team can play in Div2 after the preparations and trainings they will be getting till the start of the games. Even the players have a somewhat good feeling about the team this year. How would they do??? We will just have to wait and see...

Think you Ken be as funny???

As requested by the public audience, I have interviewed the man who everyone wants to know more of. Yes, he's the guy whom everyone called "blur" and has a "funny" pronunciation.

Everyone, I give you Kenneth Ho from the guys team. He is a Year 1 student from UOL Diploma in Economics. After which, he will choose a degree to continue his 2nd and 3rd year of studies. So is he what everyone says he is? The only way to find out is merely reading on!

Where were you from before coming to SIM??
I took electronic computer engineering in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, wasted 3 yrs there because in the end I study completely different stuff when I came into SIM. The lecturer bluffed me into taking the course as he said that with my results, I confirm can do well.

But why Economics in SIM???
Because the girls in SIM are HOT! Haha... Actually, I like maths stuff and I hate to memorize. I sucked in engineering too. There's one time time I had to do a circuit board like power supply stuff. My lecturer brought it home to check and when he turned it on, it had a mini explosion and white smoke engulfed his room. He f***ed me the next day when he sees me for lesson. From then on, I know I was not a born engineer.

So you are saying that there's no accidents in Economics??
Haha... There won't be any accidents in econs unless I accidentally made someone in my class pregnant. This is called accident! Hahaha...

-__-||| So you were from Ngee Ann floorball team? Tell me about your experience there.
I have gone from a newbie to a floorball player loh! I have learnt alot playing with people like Brandon. Also, the coach was a girl and she's EMILY KOH! I used to have a crush on her when she wasn't my coach. In Ngee Ann Poly floorball team, I was called Rooney as I can run like crazy. Last time when I was in Year 1, I played floorball like no tomorrow. Running everywhere and it pissed my seniors off. Hahaha...

So how have your experience in SIM floorball been so far?
" HAHAHA, ADVENTURE! One word: AWESOME! I have met a great bunch of friends which defintely make my stay in SIM an enjoyable one! Don't you think? =] " - I have wanted to say this! Haha... Well, it has its ups and downs. The up part is getting to know alot of new friends through so many events such as frisbee, sim floorball madness and handball. I didn't know floorball girls are not only sporty but they are also very pretty when they are not in their sports attire.

as he continued to explain further...
Also, the up part is doing suicide as a team during the IVP training. Even though it was very hard for alot of people but we all made it through by encouraging each other. That's where the team spirit and team bonding is formed.

he finally talked about the down part...
The DOWN part was not winning a single game during the IVP. Wow, here's a secret. (Which did not become one after I posted this article!) During the NUS game, my eyes started tearing when they scored the second goal. Right in my mind, I was thinking; all the hard work, 3 days a week training, sometimes even 5 days a week, has gone down the drain. Another down part was losing 3-on-3 semi final to a guy called CHARLES and his team. If my team had won, I would have made Angela's team sweat blood to earn the champions trophy.

There wasn't any trophies given out for that event from what I know of actually. Is this a joke? But I hear from the guys team that you like to follow his footsteps alot. Is it true??
I was born to this world to make people happy. Aiyah.. It's because the girl I like in SIM finds him hot, so I want to learn from him how to be hot.

That's quite funny. So where do you see yourself becoming to in floorball??

I see myself becoming a floorball coach in future. Hopefully I can impart my skills to people who are new to the sport. I also see myself playing in Div1 in the coming years hopefully. I want to challenge myself to be able to survive in Div1. Also, I used to have this dream of being the captain in SIM floorball and lead them to IVP champions in front of alot of people.

Great dreams from you! You don't seem blur as they always say. What do you think??
They made me look blur. I'm not blur at all. I know all the gossips in the club! I keep myself up-to-date with them too. For example, ***** and ***, ******* and ****** (to protect everyone, the names have been censored by the Board of Blacks' Gossips Censorship-BBGC).

So you are not so blur actually but they like to say that Cheryl and you are similar. Do you agree???
In terms of skills, maybe a bit different. She is a defender and I'm an ALL-ROUNDER. Also, she has an Indian name but I don't. Similarity wise, we always get BULLIED by anyone. One more is that we are both ATTRACTIVE!

Bullied?? Are there any examples??
"Where I stay" questions are considered as bullying. But, I'm okay with them bullying me as it makes me feel like an innocent boy. I SHALL BULLY THEM IN THE FLOORBALL COURT!!! Hahaha...

I heard that there's no gossips or rumours about you and you are still single. Just what kind of girl are you looking for???
I hope to find someone who shares the same passion with me. Someone who can turn up and support me in whatever sport I'm taking part in. Someone who wants to be pampered with love. But even if she is a clubber and have completely different personalities with me, I would still be attracted to her because different poles attract to each other. ATTRACTION! Get it??? Hahaha...

I also heard that you admire some girls in the floorball scene. Care to share?
Hahaha.. Like I find ***** very pretty after a competition, ****** is actually very pretty but too bad she graduated, **** is super hot but too bad she's attached, ****** really knows how to dress and she looks like a shining star, ***** is super cute but her impression of me is not very good, *** is another ***** and I like the way she plays as a ******, ****** is a complete girl whom every guy would want by his side. (To protect the interviewee, all names and some words are censored. Happy guessing!!!)

Alright, that's a whole lot of analysis. Hahaha... Lastly, do you have any words for your fellow floorballers in th club??
Stay pretty and handsome as ever! For the guys, keep working hard as with hard work comes success. Maybe, with the new blood coming in next semester, we will be a stronger club. For the girls, stay single and available. I heard that the new batch of floorball guys are way better than those graduating this year. Hahaha... Hopefully we can have more team bonding sessions! Lastly, floorball is not everything as studies are still very important!!!

As everyone can see, Kenneth has a great passion for floorball. His dreams and all the talk about floorball is something that everyone should look up to. He's not as blur and soft spoken as most have said he is. He talks quite abit actually and has quite a good analytical mind. About what? Maybe you should ask him yourself. =D

Ultimately, he is a very funny person to have around in the team. The guys team will see more of his action on court and off court. Well, single ladies if you think he's the guy for you, please do not hestitate and sms Befriend Kenneth to 70028! Each sms costs $0.20. Parental consent has to be given for ladies under 18 years old.

I'm sorry for the long wait for the exciting interviews. I know all of you have been waiting to see who is the next one. Well, not to worry, I'm opening recommendations to everyone. If you have someone in mind, do leave a message on the tagboard!

Till then folks!! Stay tuned for the next interview!!! Thank you so much for reading and supporting till this point!
